  • The Rotterdam Hofbogen is part of the former Hofplein Line, once connecting Rotterdam, The Hague, and Scheveningen. Since the viaduct was decommissioned in 2010, it has become the longest monumental structure in the Netherlands, running through Rotterdam Noord. Beneath its arches, nearly two kilometers of design studios, fashion shops, and food venues have emerged. The viaduct is now being transformed into the country’s longest rooftop park. Hoor de Hofbogen (Hear the Hofbogen) analyzes the current soundscape and offers recommendations for how the park and its surroundings should sound after redevelopment. Its core message: without the right sonic atmosphere, the park will not function as the municipality intends.
